My friend recommended the book by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen 'Influence' which shows interviews with designers across the arts field that have influenced them (well duh) and their own photographs, ideas and really just a whole lot of cool pages that are just nice to look at. I say buy it for the blossom printed inserts alone.

My new SLR camera and i went on a trip to Wollaton Hall in Nottingham recently, which housed a huge stuffed giraffe and hundreds of cased butterflies! Heres my two fave pics (sadly not of the giraffe - i couldnt fit him all in!)

Im having a golden moment... having found my mums unworn gold padlock and chain i decided it was just the thing to go with my 'dogeared' red linin karma bracelet, this started my obsession for all things with a gold glint and i found this old gold locket in a antiques market and gold clock winder in a draw! Now i just want the 'dogeared' gold dipped karma necklace to finish off my bling! Darn xmas being so far away!!

I've just found this amazing free program downloadable at http://www.poladroid.net, and it makes your boring old digi photos into Polaroids in a matter of seconds! Ive only had a quick play with it but here's some of my own snaps made cool!

Top of my wish list right now is a Polaroid camera. I need to find a very cheap one though as my budget is very limited. During my research I found these pretty snaps on the tint, i love the soft focused romantic and vintage look about them. Hmm, when a camera makes the most mundane life have a rosy glow like that surely that's worth the stretch!

Looking at the brilliant blog 'fashionroadkill.blogspot.com' i looked a beautiful photograph featured which reminded me i really should post something on the Pre-Raphaelite movement, as i think (as obviously the bbc does with their new show 'desprate romantics') that these paintings are still as modern and popular today as then. Almost photographic these paintings are the Tim Walker images of the 19th century! full of fantacy beauty and drama.

My holiday read of choice was this beautiful little book by Gisele Scanlon. The goddess Guide.

A friend brought it for me for my birthday this year and its totally become my new bible! Every page is exquisitely decorated by the Gisele- a talented illustrator, and there are tips on everything from fashion to beauty, travel to food; all dispersed with lovely little anecdotes by the author. As well as using her insights to find bargains and memorable trips each page provides a wealth of inspiration for my work. Buy this book...your book shelf will have never looked prettier!

Whilst flicking through old Vogue's I found this gorgeous shoot which is so relevant to my latest party outfit cravings! my sequin hotpants from Topshop (as seen on my profile pic) are fun but not very wearable, what Im really after is a sequin bolero jacket.
lovely images anyway, due to my love for the Moulin rouge style I might frame the black and white ones in ornate gold frames.

i love that old Chanel No 5 advert with Nicole Kidman, produced by the great Baz Lurhman in a very Moulin Rouge style (one of my fave films) i wish the full version was still on, i cant be the only one who really wanted to buy that perfume after seeing it so it obviously worked!
Love the New York scenes mixed with a french moulin rouge style light-up sign reading 'Chanel' aaaa chanel....

Im currently finding it difficult to blend my wardrobe seamlessly through the ever changing weather at the moment, my trusted gladiator sandals and smock dresses see me through these hot days but then darn rain and chillness puts a serious damper on my style, so i found the answer to goose-pimply legs... over the knee socks. Quirky, stylish and errivacably english, black and grey fine wool are my favourites.

The power of red lipstick

I love the look of Red lipstick, it has a timeless, high fashion and sexy look, and is now incredibly cool, yet a little scary to carry off. Ive invested in a Doir lipstick -Diorific High Fashion Lipstick which encased in an art deco style gold tube has a very luxurious feel, that when i fish it out of my clutch makes me feel like a Hollywood screen star. The shade 'Dolce vita' has just the right amount of orange to keep it from looking vampy, a shade i cant seem to find on the highstreet. I am gradually building up the courage to wear it out more often, going for more of a Portia Freeman than Dita von Tease look!

As a fan of Vogue and Elle magazine i have cut out photographs by this man to use in my work for some time but only realised how many of my favourite images are by him when doing research the other day. Tim Walker's fantastical fairytale photos have the beautiful feminine look of a bygone era and their surreal alice in wonderland style props make them truly original. They are art in themselves.

I love the work by Raphael Vincent.
Gorgeous feminine yet kind of rock and roll, his fashion illustrations inspire me a lot. I found this image in the book 'Fashion Wonderland' by viction:ary publishing. this is the best book you'll ever find if interested in fashion illustration, its full page sized images are all wonderful and cover a range of techniques and subjects, theres loads of designers in here too so if on a illustration course this is your contextual bible.

on the Fringe of things

Everywhere i look these days the understated cool accessory seems to be a fringe, following this trend i have cut myself a fringe, (thankfully it isnt a repeat of the helmet of hair that fell above my eyebrows i had in primary school) yet its lacking the sleek brown colour that Florence, from florence and the machine, and others rock so well. Still the fringe gives a mysterious egde to my look and although its a bold descision i think its a good one, give it a try.

Watch 'Class of 2008 Graduated' (http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer) for an insight into her life and that of other hip young Londoners. its actually rather normal compared to the hills (of which i admit to being a super fan) but that makes it all the more cool.

Hello anyone who manages to find this blog!! Now i know there are a lot of blogs out there already and many of them related to fashion, i for one find these very useful in life, art work etc etc, being a graphics student, but id like to add to this blogging world with my own view of the industry we all love. My life revolves around Fashion through the illustrations i do, things i watch and clothes i wear, and hopefully some of that can be an inspiration to someone else too.
Im new to this so any tips or requests would be much appreciated...
